SELF-CARE, THE PRACTICE

DAILY EFFORT

Self-care is a major part of wellness and wellness is for everyone.

It is important to note that self-care doesn’t just happen. It requires an intentional level of effort on your part.

Doing things to improve upon your own health, well-being, and even joy, doesn’t just improve your own quality of life, but the quality you bring to those around you.

When you feel good and at peace on the inside, you glow on the outside.

Self-care is a practice in continual self-acceptance, reflection, and, if done right, improvement...

WHEN YOU SAY ‘YES’ TO OTHERS MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT SAYING ‘NO’ TO YOURSELF.
— PAOLO COEHLO, BRAZILIAN LYRICIST AND NOVELIST

Self-care should be accessible to all of us.

Strive to make your daily practice(s) easy to do so you can effortlessly (or effortfully) incorporate it into your day.

When something seems unattainable, we risk feeling we’re not worthy of such care to begin with.

We all deserve to feel lighter, refreshed, renewed, and maybe a little inspired.

establish routine

We understand that everyone’s daily “me” time is limited.

Finding yourself in those quiet moments between all your tasks and obligations can do a world of good and make such a difference to your well-being.

Face masks, mani/pedis, and glasses of champagne in the afternoon all certainly have a place in self-care, however, the way you show up for yourself can be worth significantly more.

DOING NOTHING HAS BECOME ONE OF THE LOST LUXURIES IN THESE HECTIC TIMES.

As evidenced by our name, here at LEISURE & JOIE, we truly believe in doing what you can to make time to do things that are good for you and bring you joy.

We understand everyone has different lives and circumstances and some things may not be feasible. Bear in mind, each of these is a suggestion.

Take what works for you, modify what you need to, ignore what doesn’t speak to you.

Here are a few simple examples we implement and find helpful to practice as we also strive to achieve a more balanced, self-care centered, daily routine.

  • (IF POSSIBLE) Make your 1st hour in the morning and the last hour (2, if poss) before bed a phone-free zone

  • Wake up earlier to enjoy quiet mornings and HYDRATE

  • Get some sun and some sort of movement

  • Say your prayers, morning mantras, or positive affirmations

  • Declutter / clear your space / remove dust

  • Reflect on your day, via journaling a/o meditation, and express gratitude

Remember - this isn’t an exact science. Doing these things won’t make your life perfect.

The key is to commit to intentionally creating a daily practice that helps you accept and implement mindfulness as a tool to self-care.

ALMOST EVERYTHING WILL WORK AGAIN IF YOU UNPLUG IT FOR A FEW MINUTES, INCLUDING YOU.
— ANNE LAMOTT, AMERICAN NOVELIST AND NON-FICTION WRITER; PROGRESSIVE POLITICAL ACTIVIST, PUBLIC SPEAKER, AND WRITING TEACHER

Self-care is an inner and outer practice that has the power to transform your confidence and self-esteem. Show yourself you are worthy by finding that extra time to make your own day better.

Prioritize yourself.

your best

Self-care is a part of wellness that everyone deserves to experience and not just when everything is going well. Showing yourself some kindness, care, consideration, and grace goes a long way.
